With the opening of the cosmetic brand FIRN’s second Paris boutique, the agency Nightflight, led by Rudy Guénaire, presents a new project on Rue Vieille-du-Temple in the city’s 4th arrondissement of Paris. Conceived as a micro-architecture of the mountains in the heart of the city, the project translates into spatial form the principles that structure the brand’s universe: a cosmetic approach inspired by extreme environments and by the relationship between nature, science, and performance.
The “FIRN wall,” the centerpiece of the space, was sculpted from a single block. Its organic volumes undulate like high-altitude snow mantles—firn, the compact snow between snow and ice that gives the brand its name—while also evoking the refined abstractions of Barbara Hepworth. At its center, an astral form diffuses a shifting, breathing light that subtly animates the interior.
The furniture continues this dialogue between naturality and technical precision. A sculptural shelving unit combines wood and metal in hand-drawn curves, while the walls—padded with ultra-technical fabrics—recall the world of high-performance mountaineering equipment. At the heart of the boutique, a central island conceived as a modular testing station draws inspiration from the architectures of extreme territories, from Antarctic research stations to high-altitude scientific refuges.
More than a traditional retail space, the boutique has been conceived as a station for skincare experimentation. Within a compact and carefully articulated volume, materials, light, and ergonomics support an immediate tactile and sensory experience, where the cosmetic gesture becomes almost a protocol. With this project, Rudy Guénaire and the agency Nightflight continue their exploration of hybrid environments, where nature, performance, and urban culture converge. •
